Services
Intensive In-Home (IIH) Services are structured, time-limited, and home-based mental health services designed for children and adolescents experiencing serious emotional and behavioral difficulties. Services are delivered in the youth’s natural environment — typically the home — and involve the entire family or support system. The primary goal is to stabilize crises, improve family functioning, and reduce the need for psychiatric hospitalization or residential placement.
24/7 Crisis Response & Safety Planning
On-call support and intervention to manage urgent behavioral or emotional crises
In-Home Individual Therapy
Direct support for the youth focused on emotional regulation, coping, and social skills
Family Therapy & Parent Coaching
Improving communication, family dynamics, and providing caregivers with behavioral tools and strategies.
Behavioral Support Planning
Development of specific strategies to reduce disruptive behaviors and increase positive functioning.
Skill-Building and Psychoeducation
Teaching youth and families about mental health, emotional regulation, and healthy relationships.
Case Management & Care Coordination
Collaboration with schools, social workers, court systems, pediatricians, and other care providers.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for IIH services in Virginia:

The child must be between ages 5 and 21

Must have a diagnosed mental health condition that meets medical necessity for intensive services

Must be at risk of out-of-home placement, such as hospitalization, foster care, or residential treatment

Parental or guardian involvement is required for service participation

Must have Virginia Medicaid coverage (services are typically fully covered)
We can help guide families through the referral and authorization process with Medicaid or Managed Care Organizations (MCOs).
